* Please note: All Seminole County WIC office locations close early on Thursdays at 12 noon, however, you may still call the appointment line until 5PM to schedule a WIC appointment.

  • WIC is a special supplemental food and nutrition education program for Women, Infants, and Children.
  • WIC provides the following at no cost:
    • healthy food during your pregnancy and after you deliver
    • nutrition education and counseling
    • breastfeeding support
    • referrals for health care and community services

holding a baby Who is Eligible for WIC?

To be eligible, you must be:

  • a pregnant woman
  • a breastfeeding woman
  • a woman who just had a baby
  • an infant or a child under 5 years old

To be eligible, you must also:

  • have a low or moderate income
  • have a special need that can be helped by WIC foods and nutrition counseling

Lady at Desk How Do I Apply for WIC?

  • If you live in Seminole County Florida you can call the local WIC office at 407-665-3705. Or, call toll free 1-800-342-3556 to find out the phone number of the WIC office near you.
  • Tell the staff at the local WIC office that you want to apply for the WIC program. They will make an appointment to find out if you qualify for WIC.

Two People TalkingWhat Do I Need to Qualify for WIC?

To qualify for WIC, you will need:

  • a height and weight measurement
  • a blood test for hemoglobin or hematocrit

Note: The measurements and blood test must be taken within 60 days of the WIC appointment. Infants less than 6 months old do not need a blood test.

Ask your doctor or health clinic to fill out a WIC Medical Referral Form with this health information. One form should be filled out for each person in the family applying for WIC. Bring the form to the WIC office when you go for your appointment. If you don't have a doctor, the WIC office will let you know how you can get the health information needed.

Then, the staff at the WIC office will let you know if you qualify for WIC.

milk What Foods Are WIC Foods?

  • If you qualify for WIC, you will be given WIC checks to use at the grocery store. Only WIC foods can be bought with these checks. The WIC foods are listed on each check.
  • These are the WIC foods:
  • Milk
  • Cheese
  • Eggs
  • Cereals
  • Fruit or Vegetable Juices
  • Dry Beans or Peas
  • Peanut Butter
  • Iron Fortified Infant Formula (artificial baby milk)
  • Breastfeeding women who are not getting WIC checks for infant formula may get extra WIC foods. These foods include extra cheese, peanut butter or beans, juice, and:
  • Canned Tuna Fish
  • Carrots
